Good Luck Daisy!!!

The third episode of Daisy of Love appeared on Vh1 last Sunday. I would have to say I was neither impressed nor surprised by this episode. Everything remains the same with regards to the “scripted” lay out the show has now became notorious for. I thought reality shows were supposed to be real and unscripted. I understand the need for ratings, but seriously, the scripting is beginning to be a little excessive!
This episode began with the famous Daisy Mail. Daisy Mail is a letter or note that Daisy writes and has delivered to the men on her show. The main purpose of this mail is to let the contestants know what to expect for the day and their upcoming adventures. I found Daisy’s words in the letter to be very juvenile! The words made her sound dumb and uneducated. It seemed as if someone had stolen a little girl’s diary and began reading it live on air. The men got ready, as they were instructed by Daisy to be ready in one hour for their next challenge.
The challenge consisted of meeting in a field where the men were supposed to carry a mannequin, which looked like Daisy, across the field from a limo to a velvet rope to a stage door back to the velvet rope and back to the limo! The men were split into groups of four. Whichever team’s Daisy mannequin had the least amount of damage at the end won the competition. Needless to say the men acted very barbaric and ended up destroying the mannequins!
When the competition was over the men went home to get ready for a fun night filled with Daisy! They went as far as putting make up on and doing their hair. When I say doing their hair they were literally curling and straightening it!
Overall this episode was not impressive, once again! These men are so full of themselves and shallow! Personally I would not want any of them in my life, especially as a boyfriend! Good luck Daisy!!!

Daisy of Love-Episode 2

Now that Daisy of Love has officially started it seems fitting that things are about to get more sexual and viewers will start seeing more sexually suggestive challenges on the show! I think it is also safe to say that all the men on the show are using strategies to target each other and make themselves look better! In last night’s episode the guys were asked to perform a show and tell for Daisy. Of course it included all the crazy and dumb things that one would expect from this type of show. There was everything from rapping, blow-up dolls, and guys exposing themselves.
I think one guy on this show really stands out, I don’t know if that would be a good or a bad thing though! The man I’m talking about is Flipper! He is the man who actually decided to rap about Daisy last night. He rapped about the other guys he is competing against and basically put them down. I think it’s just his way (or the producers way) of creating more controversy for the show.
There were three winners of the Show and Tell competition. The first winner was 6 Gauge, for using his skills as a bartender. The second winner was Chi Chi, for telling a sad story about his dad dying. Last but not least was Weasel, for just being downright crazy.
The prize for the winner was a private date, but the twist was the loser who did the best in the additional challenge received a date too. The three men who were losers had to give lap dances to three women. The funny thing was that these women were grandmas! Not what these men probably envisioned when registering for the show!
My feelings about Daisy and the show still remain the same; I don’t like either of them! After this blog is over I don’t plan on following this show anymore!

Daisy of Love

Last Sunday the beginning of another reality love show on VH1 began. This show is called Daisy of Love starring Daisy from Bret Michael’s season 2 of Rock of Love. I’m not going to lie, I dislike Daisy A LOT! She annoyed me to links I never knew I could be annoyed to during her appearance on Rock of Love! She is probably the fakest girl I’ve ever seen. Everything from her face to her lips to her breasts down to the way she portrayed herself to Bret Michaels. During Rock of Love she neglected to tell Bret that she was still living with her ex and sleeping with him occasionally! Come on…who does that??
I hated the first episode of Daisy of Love. It seemed very scripted and fake and made for ratings only! The guys on this show are despicable and make men all over the world look bad. At least it’s men this time, not women! There were three guys in particular that were really annoying! They were three brothers from Sweden that could barely speak English and looked like they were straight out of the 1980’s. They admitted that they were only on the show for free beverages and food! Daisy eliminated all three of them before the actual elimination!
The rest of the guys were enjoying their free alcohol, in excess like usual! One of the guys got so drunk that he threw up all over the place and passed out. Real cool, NOT! Daisy didn’t eliminate him, it didn’t surprise me though. It seems that these shows thrive on stupidity and will keep the stupidest contestants around the longest, for ratings of course!
Overall this series isn’t my cup of tea. I’m beginning to think that my obsession with these reality shows, especially love reality shows is diminishing. I guess I can credit VH1 for the low levels they have taken reality shows to recently!

It's Finally OVER!!!!

Last Sunday possibly the dumbest show ever finally rapped up with the final episode of Rock of Love Tour Bus airing on Vh1. I usually am a big fan of Bret Michaels and his past shows where he tried to find love, but unfortunately this last tour was the end of it for me!
All the girls on this season seemed very fake and no one really caught my attention (in a good, positive way). The girls seemed to represent the stereotypical dumb female persona. There were way too many cat fights and yelling obscenities towards each other. At one point in the season Ashley poured salsa in another girls suitcase; very immature in my eyes. The sad thing about all this is that ninety percent of these women had children at home. I wonder what the children will think when they are old enough to look on YouTube and see their moms looking like complete idiots!
The season finale consisted of two girls, Mindy and Taya. Taya won and Bret sent Mindy on her way home. I was very shocked with his decision. Taya seemed like she was promoting Penthouse the entire time as she was named Penthouse Pet of the Year and always wore her Penthouse tank top. She seemed very talented with signing as well, she failed to mention this to anyone but her abilities came out in a challenge when the girls had to sing Bret a song. I personally feel that Taya was promoting herself and her career by being on the show.
Mindy was a sweeter girl but still had issues! She seemed very unstable and her emotions were uncontrollable and turned on and off like a light switch. So maybe she wasn’t the best choice either!
Overall this season was lame and I’m glad for it to be over!!! Please Bret, don’t come back with Season Four!!!!!

Who Will He Pick???

Tonight is the end of Rock of Love 3; I thought it would never happen! Usually I enjoy these types of shows and get very excited and anticipate the finale. On the other hand I don’t want the shows to usually end because I feel like I’ve become to know the contestants! Unfortunately for Rock of Love 3, I felt much different! I can honestly say I have been waiting for this show to end because it’s beginning to get very obnoxious to me! I think all the girls are fake and annoying and don’t really care who wins. I usually have a favorite but can’t say I do this season!
The final two girls left are Taya and Mindy. Taya seems to be a crazy person who has tons of mental instabilities. She has recently been named Penthouse Pet of the year and many people claim she was just on the show for publicity and promoting herself and her career. I think I might have to agree because every time I see her on the show she is wearing a tank top that says Penthouse Playmate. Kind of strange if you ask me!
Mindy comes across as a wholesome person who has a good family background. I don’t know why I really think this but I just get this impression from her! She seems to have it together more than Taya, but who really knows? She has a career and a stable life, so that seems to account for something when the rest of the girls she competed with were strippers.
Overall I think that neither girl will work out for Brett. The main reason is because these shows are about competition, not love. The girls gets so caught up in everything and all the drama in the show that they forget about the real reasoning behind the show, finding love!
For Brett’s sake and all of America who view these shows…I hope this is his last tour of love and he does find that special someone.

Why do they do it??

This week I decided to blog about something that I often have wondered, and I’m sure others have too! Why do people go on reality love shows? Reality television is great, I love it, but lately it seems like the television stations will go to any length to make a new show. I feel that by doing that the status and reputation of these shows are diminishing! So I’ll ask again….why do people go on reality love shows?
Lately I have heard people refer to shows such as Rock of Love, Real Chance of Love, and I Love New York as “D” list reality shows; saying that they are not as respectable as other shows such as Survivor and The Apprentice. These shows referred to as “D” list are being accused of making the people/contestants on the shows look stupid and some say the people participating in these shows are lacking self respect.
What I feel is the best answer to this question is that the people take the risk of being humiliated in front of millions for a chance of fame. I think these girls/guys that participate in these “sleezy” shows are just wanting fame and hoping that somewhere along the process someone notices them and signs them on as an actress/actor/model.
Another idea I had about these individuals wanting to be on these shows is that they are simply narcissistic and want everyone to see them on television!
Basically I feel that everyone on these shows just want their fifteen minutes of time in the limelight. I personally wouldn’t want to go there and exposes myself and my life to the world!

Craziness...Continued!!!

Two weeks ago on Rock of Love we said goodbye to Ashley and Britannia. I would describe them as the last of the crazy party girls. I was very surprised when Ashley was sent home, I actually felt as if she would be one of the winners, or at least would make it into the final elimination.
Last season the show decided to bring on the girls ex boyfriends, this season the same thing happened. Last season one of the finalists, Daisy, had a major secret exposed when her ex came to the show. Her secret was that she still lived her ex boyfriend. She neglected to bring this point up, so Bret was very upset and uneasy about his feelings about Daisy. He did however keep Daisy. In the end he did not pick her. Something very similar happened with Ashley this season. Her boyfriend came on the show and announced that they still lived together! Bret was not impressed; however he kept a spot for Ashley at elimination! I was shocked. The real kicker was during final elimination when Bret asked her if she wanted to stay or go home with her ex and she decided to go home! She showed no feelings whatsoever so that led me to believe she was on the show for all the wrong reasons!
Britannia also demonstrated feeling for her ex when he arrived. She also began to be very violent, physically and verbally. She went as far as spitting in someone’s face. That was all it took for Bret to say goodbye to her!! “No one spits in my friends face”, Michaels said.
Poor Bret!! Will he ever find love??

Down to 7

This episode began with the remaining 7 girls in tiny bikinis awaiting the arrival of their man, Bret! As he arrived they were all excited until he told them the events for the day. They were told that they were going to have to play mom for the day. One girl, Ashley, made the comment “I may be a stripper on the weekends, but Monday through Friday I’m a Mom.” Gross…who says that?? The day goes on and most of the girls do okay with the kids. As the night comes Bret decides to take the girls out. Beverly has a flip out because she’s drinking and always flips out when she drinks. She grew very angry and a big pain, even for me as I watched at home. The most exciting part of the night was when Mindy and Taya were talking about Farrah and Farrah overheard. The other girls, along with Farrah, decided it would be cool to dump salsa all over the girls stuff! I was repulsed by this because it was so immature. Mindy and Taya did what I would have done and took their stuff and moved on out into another hotel room for the evening. Everyone is going crazy and the drama level is rather high at this point. The next day Bret talks to Bev about her drinking and says she’s a really nice, cool person when she’s sober but not when she drinks. You’d think she’d get the hint and stop drinking before she gets kicked off. At elimination Bret said good bye to Farrah because he felt that she was influencing Ashley negatively.

Good Bye Kelsey!!!

Last week on Rock of Love we had to say good bye to my favorite girl, Kelsey. I was so sad because she was my favorite all of the girls. She seemed to be the most “normal” out of the bunch. Or maybe it was because she was probably the only girl on the show I could envision myself hanging out with!!
As the show started it’s usually one hour episode last Sunday, things were pretty normal in comparison to what they usually are. The bus was traveling to Alabama this week. The girls were giving Taya a bunch of grief because she kept bragging about being Penthouse Pet of The Year. They were also accusing her of being a stripper. What was so controversial about this was that Taya is always coming down on the other girls who are strippers.
The show continued with a few random challenges that ultimately lead up to the end of Kelsey as reality television knew it. Big John told the girls to be cool and maintain somewhat of a sober state. He explained to the girls that they were privileged to be at a Brett Michael’s concert and they were direct representations of him. Farrah and Kelsey didn’t seem to care. They were extremely intoxicated and falling all over the place and being an embarrassment. Big John came along and asked them to leave and go back to the bus. Kelsey was really drunk and eventually wondered off and was found lying in the middle of the road crying. Needless to say Brett was not impressed and she was sent home.
Was this all that big of a surprise to me? No!!! This show is crazy and keeps getting crazier, but I love it.

For The Love Of Ray-J

For the Love of Ray J is a reality love show on VH1 featuring singer Ray J. This show follows a format similar to Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, or I Love New York.
The show premiered on February 2, 2009. It seems to follow the crew of females to the hottest, most hip hangouts in LA to Las Vegas, partying all the way of course. Along their journey they have met some famous friends of Ray J. They also get to meet Ray J’s sister, hip hop singer Brandy.
Like other reality love shows, the girl go through a series of contests and challenges in hopes of winning the Love of Ray J. They pour their heart out and shed many tears in the spotlight for all of America to see! Unlike most other reality shows I’ve seen this one seems to be focused on the women more and pampering them. They seem to be treated to many upscale trips and luxuries that most other shows don’t incorporate into their format. The other shows just show a lot of drinking and partying, not necessarily in luxury!
Like all other reality love shows on VH1, the female contestant s are given “special” names by the star who is looking for love. In shows like Real Chance of Love we’ve seen names like Corn Fed, Cali, Risky, and Stalker! On I Love New York we’ve seen Buddha, Real, Chance, and Tailor Made. Ray J followed along these lines and has named girls such as Cashmere, Unique and Hot Cocoa.
I can honestly say that I haven’t gotten sucked into this show as much as I have others, but I it goes with my theme of reality love shows and deserves a mention!

MUD BOWL ROUND 3

This week on Rock of Love brought the third annual mud wrestling match. Apparently Brett believes the woman of his dreams will win his heart in no other place but the muddy terrain of a football field! Beverly, who has previously showed her loyalty (or should I say lack of) by kissing one of Brett’s band members began to get fed up with the “Blondtourage” as she refers to the girls with blonde hair! As the women go into the mud bowl Brett divides them into two teams, The Fallen Angels and The Sweethearts. As this show progresses there is a separation between the girls, I would classify it as one group of girls being blonde and the other being brunette! These girls are clearly looking for fame not love…but who cares right? We will still watch the show.
As the football game pans out, we saw our usually drama and craziness. Ashley even had to stop to apply her pink lip gloss after she stated that she would never be friends with anyone who wore brown lip gloss (hence the mud on her lips)! In the end The Sweethearts win the game. As a prize Brett decides to treat the entire winning team to a date, but even better he decided to pick a game MVP. The girl who would be picked as a MVP would be able to fly solo with Brett to a show in Texas and spend the night with him. Everyone was surprised he picked Mindy as she seems to be one of the “more lame” girls as the other girls would say; basically she doesn’t embarrass herself all that much compared to the others!
The third annual mud bowl is over…THANK GOODNESS, and as I’m betting there will probably be a fourth…and perhaps a fifth in the future!

As if there weren’t enough!

After a week break for the show, last night VH1 brought us a new episode of Rock of Love. Last night’s competition consisted of the girls getting in three groups of three. Each group nominated a captain and was assigned an ‘ugly’ girl as their ‘project’!
The girls seemed really excited and eager to make these plain Jane girls into rock n roll princesses! They worked hard for an hour and then presented their girls. Bret was so shocked at the transformations that he actually asked the three girls to stay and join his tour of love! The original crew of girls gave mixed emotions about his decision. Some girls stood up and clapped and some girls cried!
Bret was upset when the girls clapped. He actually stated that the reason he asked these three girls to join was because he wasn’t feeling any connections with any of the original girls. Come on now…does he actually think he is going to find love? All these girls are crazy and looking for one thing…fame, not love! He even made the comment last night that he felt like these girls are just on tour with him to party.
After everything was said and done, one girl was very upset, Ashley. She talked to Bret and expressed herself and apparently she won a personal date with him later that evening in his bus. I guess seeing a girl cry over him was all it took to win Bret’s heart on last night’s Rock of Love episode.

Let's Take A Week Off!!!

Reality love TV is great, but I need a week off! So instead of watching a reality love show this week I decided I would talk a little about the history of these shows that we all have came to love (or hate)! When I thought about the question of when in fact reality shows began I first thought of The Real World on MTV. I did some research and realized that I was in fact right! Reality television did in fact begin on MTV with The Real World back in 1992.
Granted I was only eight in 1992, I can say that I remember watching The Real World. I can remember thinking how “cool” the people were that were on the show. I guess in a way this could still be applied to reality shows that we all watch today. I’m sure it is safe to say that some people (especially younger adults/kids) watch these shows and like some things that they see and think that the people are in fact “cool”. Anywhere from the clothing that the people wear to the way that they talk can be considered “cool” and in fact can be imitated by viewers at home. This is a major example of how the media influences us a society. In the case of most reality shows that I watch/have watched it would be correct to say that the behaviors/ideas/dress that are displayed by the contestants/participants on these shows is in fact negative and should not be imitated by people at home! It is sad but true that we are socially taught to admire and adhere to what we are exposed to via the media.
These reality shows definitely go back awhile and their affects seem to be consistent throughout the years. The producers of these shows want to lure us in with the drama and chaos that surrounds strangers as they get thrown into a house and have to live with each other (and are usually competing with one another for something, which makes things even crazier). Though some things have changed in regards to these reality television shows (clothing styles), some things do in fact stay the same (bad attitudes).

Has Reality TV Gone Too Far???

In watching last Monday nights “Best of Stallionaires” (Real Chance of Love Re-cap) on Vh1 I came to the conclusion that reality television is pushing the limits. I enjoyed watching the past couple months of the show, but clearly there has been an extensive amount of editing! In a way the editing is affecting the way we as an audience perceive what is going on. I watched the entire season but never caught wind of the “real” things that were going on and how some of the girls were actually being degraded and hurt throughout the show. When I was watching this episode the stars of the show, Real and Chance, shared footage and extra info that we as viewers didn’t see.
One girl on the show, Rabbit, was pretty much humiliated on national television more than once by Chance, the man she was trying to win over. He repeatedly made comments about Rabbit having facial and neck hair. How embarrassing I thought…how immature and inappropriate for a grown man to make these kinds of comments about a girl…especially on national television. Then I wondered…was it his fault or Vh1’s for not editing this out? I came to the conclusion that reality television thrives on personal, hurtful jabs at individuals, which is how they draw people in, as sick as it sounds…it works!
Something else that was really hurtful for two of the girls was that neither of them got picked by Chance! I especially felt bad for Cali as she was the last one standing and was under the assumption that she was the winner. I feel that Chance could have approached this situation a lot better and called both girls down at once and let them both know that he wasn’t picking either of them. He sent Risky home and let Cali stand there…awaiting for his heartfelt speech telling her she was the one, instead she got her heart broken and truly seemed devastated!
This reality show was very crude when it all was exposed last Monday. The producers hope for the worst to happen and don’t really seem to care who gets hurt or caught in the cross fire! From what I can gather about reality shows is that America as a society has grown to love the misfortunes of others and we actually tune in every week to see who is getting hurt or humiliated.

Can You Really Find Love On A Bus?

Reality love shows, what can I say? They are everywhere! Last week…as you know (those of you who read my blogJ) my favorite reality love show rapped up and I’m anxiously awaiting the reunion show for Real Chance of Love…which airs January 26th! As I wait I of course have to scan the channels and see what else is out there in reality TV land!

Rock of Love is a show that I am very familiar with. I began watching this show three seasons ago when Poison’s lead singer Bret Michaels began his quest down the long, troublesome road of reality TV love! The first season was pretty typical as to what you could expect with any reality show. The season ended with Bret picking who he thought was the right girl for him! Her name was Jes, and I personally felt that they were a good pair and would make it together. I was very surprised as I’m sure much of the audience was when Jes told Bret she wasn’t “feeling” him at the reunion show and Bret’s heart broke for all of America to see.

So season two began and Bret had everything figured out, or so he thought. He narrowed the crop of girls down to Daisy and Ambre. Ambre was older, like him and more reserved. Daisy was younger and seemed to be more his type. Bret felt he would try something different and picked Ambre. Unfortunately he didn’t find love this time either!

Now we are to season three. This season is unique in that the women are actually traveling on the road with Bret as he is on tour. This season is pretty crazy and the drama is at the highest I have ever seen it before. I find myself being able to predict what is actually going to happen next very easily! I’ve never thought that these shows were scripted…and yes I have been told over and over again by my boyfriend that they are in fact so, but this season is making me feel different and I’m finding myself agreeing with my boyfriend. So far I feel that this show is RIDICULOUS! I think Bret should have hung his hat up after his last attempt at finding love and went about it in a different way than doing another show. As much as I find this show a waste of time, I will have to admit that I will be watching it through until the end! What can I say…I have a love hate relationship with this show!

I’m hoping that this season of Rock of Love will hopefully bring Bret Michaels true love and put an end to this show FOREVER!

Please...Somebody Find Them Love!!!

Reality television seems to be consuming our television networks. No matter what channel I seem to be watching, I always run across a reality program. More recently I have found myself watching and in fact becoming consumed with a few shows in reality TV land! The twist from regular reality TV shows is that these shows that I’ve grown so fond of are reality love shows! I end up becoming committed to these shows for two to three months before they finally end. Once they do end I wait another month to see the reunion show where all the people get together and usually argue about their experience on the show. Sometimes this is my favorite part of the entire experience! I know these shows are annoying, ridiculous, and predictable! However, I love them!!!

Most recently I have finished watching my favorite reality love show of all time…at least thus far! Real Chance of Love on VH1 finally ended this last Monday. Chance and Real are brothers who actually competed against each other in a previous reality love show on VH1 called I Love New York. Real is the nicer, more sensitive brother. Chance is very blunt and rough around the edges. Neither of them won the heart of New York... so of course they did what most previous reality TV stars do when they don’t win…they start their own show!

The two brothers each had their own set of girls on this show and narrowed it down to two girls in the end. Brother Chance didn’t find love! He sent both of his final girls home…I’m betting my car that he will be back on VH1 reality TV in no time! Brother Real did find love; he found love with a girl named Corn Fed. Ironically Corn Fed is from Fargo, North Dakota! This of course made the show that much better because I got to listen to the people on the show making silly remarks about North Dakota!

Now I sit, waiting for two weeks to pass until I can watch the reunion show for Real Chance of Love! My point in blogging about all of this is to make it evident how VH1 succeeded in snagging me into their reality love show scene! It all started a couple years ago when I started watching I Love New York…and so on and so on. The advertising and promoting that VH1 does definitely works and I am proof of that!
