For the Love of Ray J is a reality love show on VH1 featuring singer Ray J. This show follows a format similar to Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, or I Love New York.
The show premiered on February 2, 2009. It seems to follow the crew of females to the hottest, most hip hangouts in LA to Las Vegas, partying all the way of course. Along their journey they have met some famous friends of Ray J. They also get to meet Ray J’s sister, hip hop singer Brandy.
Like other reality love shows, the girl go through a series of contests and challenges in hopes of winning the Love of Ray J. They pour their heart out and shed many tears in the spotlight for all of America to see! Unlike most other reality shows I’ve seen this one seems to be focused on the women more and pampering them. They seem to be treated to many upscale trips and luxuries that most other shows don’t incorporate into their format. The other shows just show a lot of drinking and partying, not necessarily in luxury!
Like all other reality love shows on VH1, the female contestant s are given “special” names by the star who is looking for love. In shows like Real Chance of Love we’ve seen names like Corn Fed, Cali, Risky, and Stalker! On I Love New York we’ve seen Buddha, Real, Chance, and Tailor Made. Ray J followed along these lines and has named girls such as Cashmere, Unique and Hot Cocoa.
I can honestly say that I haven’t gotten sucked into this show as much as I have others, but I it goes with my theme of reality love shows and deserves a mention!

During the day I have MTV and Vh1 on 24 7 when I’m in my room. Reality shows are dumb and a waste of time but for some reason I still like to see them. I have not seen for the love of Ray J but I have seen Rock of love. I like how these reality shows use nicknames as their names on these shows. It gives it a taste of who they are I like your topic and look forward in looking at more cool reality shows.
ReplyDeleteI have watched parts of For the Love of Ray J and I have to admit, like you, I haven't got sucked into this one yet. Maybe because it's so similar to the ones that have already been playing, or something, I'm not really sure. I think the nicknames they give to the girls is a funny idea, but all reality love shows seem to do it for some reason. My favorite love show would have to be A Shot at Love, but I liked the ones with Tila Tequila better than a double shot.
